I&#8217;m pleased to announce that the Stafford Ale House is the new venue (ex Pie and Ale House). Same place &#8211; with much the same staff I believe.<\/p>\n<p>This is a result as the facilities are much more suitable for our needs &#8211; certainly for workshop style meetings such as this months.<\/p>\n<h2>CRC Cards<\/h2>\n<p>This month we have a guest speaker,<a title=\"Sam Wessel\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/samwessel\" target=\"_blank\"> Sam Wessel<\/a>. Sam is a founder member of our group, an ex <a title=\"Codweaver\" href=\"http:\/\/www.codeweavers.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Codeweaver<\/a> and now is working in Nottingham for <a title=\"Esendex Ltd\" href=\"http:\/\/www.esendex.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Esendex Ltd<\/a>. He has presented at conferences such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/scottishrubyconference.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Scottish Ruby Conference<\/a> , <a href=\"http:\/\/agilenorth.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Agile North<\/a> and is also actively involved with <a href=\"http:\/\/geekup.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">GeekUp Nottingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sam will be leading a workshop style session providing a practical introduction into CRC cards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Class-responsibility-collaboration_card\">Wikipedia states<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Class Responsibility Collaboration (CRC) cards are a brainstorming tool used in the design of object-oriented software. They were proposed by Ward Cunningham and Kent Beck. They are typically used when first determining which classes are needed and how they will interact.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My perspective is that the CRC technique can be incredibly useful on a number of counts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assists and reveals an OO design<\/li>\n<li>Provides the team with a common understanding of the design and behaviour of a system<\/li>\n<li>Can be useful as an OO teaching tool<\/li>\n<li>Can be particularly useful for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Visual_thinking\">Visual Thinkers<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All you need is a pen &#8211; there will be no coding.
